Damaged Travertine Floor Incorrect Seal Stripping, Cleaning, Polishing and Sealing in Mereworth, Kent
The Travertine tiled floor had an incorrect seal applied, the floor looked dull, hairs and dust has been trapped under the seal and the beauty of the stone was lost. There were also numerous long cracks which had appeared because of settlement of the concrete underneath. The below shows the Travertine floor before the incorrect seal was removed:

During The Removal Of The Incorrect Seal | ||
The first job was to remove the old seal, this took a professional heavy duty seal stripper / remover. Once the old seal was gone the floor was cleaned with specialist stone cleaning chemicals and a rotary machine, the grout lines were cleaned with grout brushes to remove the debris and dirt. Once cleaned the floor was diamond polished to re-finish the top of the tiles, this process is like sanding a piece of wood, each grade giving a smoother / shiner finish, water was used so no dust. Then after washing the floor and allowing it to dry the floor was sealed with an correct impregnator seal to protect it and make regular maintenance cleaning easier and more effective. During the process the cracks were filled with specialist stone fillers, some of the cracks needed opening up to get the filler in, the customer was keen from the beggining for the cracks to disappear as much as possible and they very happy with the results.
