Cleaners and Polishers of Marble, Travertine And Stone Flooring.
Below is a cut-through image of a Travertine Stone Floor Tile. Showing naturally occurring holes through the Travertine.
This picture clearly shows the honeycombed structure of Travertine. When these holes are situated just below the surface, they can ‘fall in’ and the hole becomes visible from above, ie holes can appear in your travertine floor. (This image is of a beautiful clear resin filled Murano Travertine stone tile, this is an expensive and beautiful stone for flooring).
Good news is that these holes can be filled with an epoxy resin which will cover the holes and in most cases they disappear.* This is ideally done after the floor has been cleaned to remove any dirt or debris in the holes and the top of the stone and before it is polished. The polishing process ensures that the travertine stone surface is even throughout the floor.
Below you can see how these holes can looked when filled.
Please note the above Travertine tile was filled using clear resin, most floors will have a colour matching epoxy resin filler which will disguise the holes better, the above image is for illustrative purposes.

*Please note: After filling and polishing the top of the stone most holes will not be noticeable, however the effectiveness of the filling does depend on the size of the hole, the colour of the travertine and the location of the hole on the floor. Filling will always stop the eye being drawn to it however in some cases they will still be visible. Please speak to Bond & Sons to clarify how effective the hole filling process on your Travertine tiles.
